In-country expenses are costs that are for services and provide incomes for locals and communities we work with. Specific costs include accommodation such as Group Home base , home stay or other lodging, at least 2 meals per day for nearly all placements, and transportation costs
Project management refers to setting up the placement, and determining the suitability of a placement for a range of volunteers. All of Jamaica Volunteer Expeditions projects are identified and evaluated by in-country staff before being offered as a placement. At this time, stringent risk assessments are done to ensure the safety of the participants. This time also serves as a time to collaboratively draft goals with the project partners(whilst keeping the community at large at the forefront of concerns) and also assures that a volunteer will be working on genuine projects. Feedback and ongoing monitoring of these projects ensures quality assurance and certifies we are offering beneficial projects to the community and trip participants.
The set up and maintenance of our website, creation and maintenance of brochure materials ensure you always have access to the most current information you need to choose and prepare for a project placement. Jamaica Volunteer Expeditions advertises online, attends trade and university fairs, and also offers an online chat service function. Alongside trade show materials and a small budget for highly efficient advertising, these administrative costs are all essential to securing crucial support for the programs and projects across the island of Jamaica on an ongoing basis.
Volunteer management is essential in supporting volunteers with their project selection through to feedback after their project placement. Jamaica Volunteer Expeditions staff members are responsible for taking care of volunteers before and during their project placement and are on hand for any emergencies that arise. The Jamaica Volunteer Expedition HQ team manage volunteer queries, before during and after their placement to the volunteer and often to loved ones especially for our younger volunteers.
Admin covers operational costs such as bank fees, insurance, tax, staff training and corporate management services that allow Jamaica Volunteer Expeditions to run effectively.
